Reasons for an Alkaline Diet
September 29, 2010
The optimal pH level of human blood is between 7.35 and 7.45, leaning slightly more alkaline than acidic. Some foods cause an alkaline environment in the human body, while others are acid-forming. Alkaline-forming foods include most fruits, leafy green vegetables and lemon water. Meat, refined flour products, foods that contain sugar, soda drinks and alcohol are acid-forming foods and, therefore, should be eaten in smaller quantities than alkaline-forming foods.
