Know.Better.Nola. Take a sip of Mardi Gras like a local
There is no better time in Nola than Mardi Gras!. This year, take a sip of the hometown of evamor water as we tour the revelry and magic of New Orleans with our favorite local Nola-Centric blogger Danielle Granger of @showmeyournola. At evamor, we are all about #knowingbetter….seeing things differently, making different choices, and experiencing and being open to something new. So it is only “all-natural” that we would partake, share, and show some of the Mardi Gras festivities off the beaten path, so we can all experience Nola and its lagniappe like a local.

Danielle Granger of @ShowMeYourNola takes us on along to her favorite local Mardi Gras experiences off the beaten path.
Hey evamor fans! Danielle and @ShowMeYourNola here. It’s Thursday, the official start of Mardi Gras Weekend. And what better way to start than with the traditional Mardi Gras food group……King Cake. Today I am visiting the Green Fork, a local New Orleans healthy foodie heaven, for paleo, gluten free and low sugar King Cake. Mardi Gras stands for “Fat Tuesday,” but there’s no reason King Cake should make you fat! And we were up to the challenge to find a healthy one….At the Green Fork, they use a recipe that is paleo, gluten-free and low in sugar, but magically has the taste and flavor of the traditional king cake I also love. So good!!! #KnowBetterBite #KnowBetterWater

Believe it or not, beads are not the most coveted#throws to be caught at parades in #Nola…shoes are! Krewe of Muses is known to throw a very limited number of decorated shoes into the screaming crowds. Catching a shoe is a New Orleans right of passage and earns you bragging rights for a lifetime!

Rule #1 for Mardi Gras: make sure you eat! Even without drinking, #mardigras takes a lot of energy. Make sure you stay fueled & healthy! I love the “Ozzy” bowl from @hivoltcoffee because it’s jam-packed with the good stuff. And of course I wash it down with#evamorwater!

It’s not a classic #Nola weekend or visit without some beignets! It’s ok to splurge when it comes to traditional treats. ☕️

Lundi Gras (aka “Fat Monday”) is almost just a big of a deal as Mardi Gras (because the anticipation is oh-so-enticing) and by now Bourbon St. is maintaining jam-packed status. I like to wander off the beaten path to avoid crowds and enjoy a Nola classic, like a Pimms Cup from Napoleon House (because what’s Mardi Gras without a little bit of alcohol?)
